Founder and chief architect
Dr. Chris Lattner the founder and chief architect of the LLVM Compiler Infrastructure, an open source project that encompasses a wide-range of compiler and low-level tool chain technology. A notable piece of the LLVM project is the Clang compiler (which Chris also created) which is an industry leading C, Objective-C, and C++ compiler. Clang has developed into the system compiler for iOS and OS X at Apple and for the FreeBSD project, and is widely used for academic compiler research. Chris has won two major ACM awards for his work on LLVM, and works at Apple as the Director of Developer Tools.
Presentation: LLVM and Clang — Advancing Compilers and Tools
The LLVM Compiler Project (http://llvm.org) is an umbrella for a wide range of open source compiler and toolchain technology, which is widely used by industry, academia, and independent projects. This talk describes how LLVM’s unusual design has translated to some surprising clients, as well as well as describing some of the features of Clang that make it a truly great C/C++/Objective-C compiler. You should expect more from your compiler, debugger and other programmer tools!
